MLV's 24 Hours

22nd - 23rd May 2024

How many peaks can I bag n in 24 Hours?

How much money can we raise for charity?

Be in with a chance to win a Weekend away!

Get involved with one of my final test pieces before I embark on my journey to 8000m

Way back in 2021 I thought I would make my dream to stand above 8000m a reality, and I'm now just a matter of months away from embarking on an expedition to try and make that happen. Over the last few years I've been continually training, ticking off big goals such as the Bob Graham Round, Lakes, Meres & Waters or the Fred Whitton Cycle Route as I've gone. Coming into 2024 I realised I was lacking a mid-term goal to act as a stepping stone for my physical and mental mindset - and so MLV's 24 Hours was born.

What is the challenge?

The concept is simple - I will set off on a route I've devised with the mission to bag as many peaks as I can in 24 hours. This is similar to the Lakeland 24 Hour record and the Bob Graham Round, but with less constraints and pressure. There will be no requirement to get back to the start point, and the total number of peaks gained by the time 24 hours is hit is the final figure. Classified peaks will need to be Wainwright summits.

What is the route?

The exact route will be released on the challenge day, but it will involve as many of my favourite peaks, trails, ridges as possible. I have the aim of running as many peaks as possible, but I want to do it in the most enjoyable way I can devise. I loved my Bob Graham Round experience, but it was relentless and I look forward to doing something which is still tough, but a tad more enjoyable for an average runner like me.

How will it raise money for charity?

It's super simple to get involved and help me raise money for lots of different charities, and you could win a prize too! Here's how:

Email me on info@lmgtreksandexpeditions.com with the following:

1. A guess of the number of peaks you think I will run in 24 hours - pick a number between 24 - 100.

2. Proof of a £10 donation to ANY CHARITY OF YOUR CHOOSING.  A screenshot of a donation or even a pic of cash going to the charity will do.

All entries must be submitted by midday on 21st May 2024.  Late entries will not be counted.

If more than one person guesses correctly then they will go into the hat to win the prize. The winner will be announced within 24 hours of the finish of the event.

What's the prize?

A weekend away at The Royal Hotel, Dockray. The prize is for 2 people inc breakfast and two packed lunches to help fuel your adventures.  An amazing prize and well worth £10 to charity for the chance of winning if you ask me.

Massive thanks to Ali and Jo of The Royal Hotel for donating this amazing prize.

How else can you support the challenge?

Much like my previous running challenges, it would be amazing to have some company on the fell. The route will naturally cross valleys so people can join and run as much as they please, and we'll get you back to your car too. The challenge will start at 11:00am on 22nd at Lanthwaite Green near Crummocjk Water. It will run until 11:00am on the 23rd May and wherever we are at that time we will descend to the nearest road for collection. If you aim to support in a running or driving capacity I'll be able to share the route information with you in advance.

Everyone and anyone can share the challenge. The more people that donate, the more money we raise for more charities.
